Paul, We’re paying for it ourselves. And yes, we hope for it to be ad-driven. And we hope for there to eventually be enough revenue to work out a pay-for-post or other rev share model for all involved. There will be an aggregator.

CLC–ouch. It actually took me two read throughs to figure out where you got the idea that Ivy was a plant blogger. I am that kind of an idiot.

All–this is going to be open to a lot of contributors. I apologise for not coming right out of the gate with everything all shiny, but since this was birthed right around 5pm last night we haven’t figured anything out yet.

But we WILL have multiple contributers, a giant blogroll (can anyone tell me why Wordpress won’t let me import my OPML file for all the blogs?) and other necessaries.

I’m excited, even though I feel like I walked into the Twilight Zone - but what the hell, they already pulled the plug on the NIT aggregator or what? Jeez I’m so confused.

Kat, I am not sure it will let you import an OPML blogroll file. I can’t remember if it let me do that or not for my Blogrolling file but I don’t think it does.

(But you might ask Jon Hickman since you’re on WP.org and see what he says… my knowledge only extends as far as WP.com)

Chris, maybe you and I should get together for beers Sat night or Sunday afternoon and knock it out. I am thinking planet-php.org code for the feed parsing and blogroll management and then a simple sidebar plugin to pull in the latest feeds (and maybe strip out images and links).

Otherwise I can use statzen to provide a sidebar widget. It has a great feed parser, but it is in Ruby.

Unless of course someone else would rather do it. They could join us and we could just drink beer and watch.
