We have a category for “Arts & Culture”. Believe me, I chuckled mightily as I clicked THAT box in reference to this post.
Terry Heaton talks about the renewal of ABC’s National Bingo Night
By Nielsen standards, “Bingo” should not be getting a second life, because the ratings were very poor for the interactive show.
But the online numbers tell a different tale, and that’s going to spawn a whole new series of shows with interactive elements that can be accurately measured.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I KNOW I’m a snob about shows like this. As far as I’m concerned, they could put all the prime time game shows in a blender, hit purée and pour the slurry of substandard tv all over the South in an effort to tame our rampant kudzu problem. I hate prime time game shows.
But I’m really in love with the idea that networks are slowly but surely discovering ways to integrate the Web 2.0 elements into their program evaluation. Maybe now we’ll be able to keep GOOD shows on the air, too.
