Tn Blog Watch: The Coolness Of It All

We here at Music City Bloggers have a sister site called Tn. Blog Watch. You may have seen it lurking there in the sidebar under the Aggregator, or you may have seen it discussed around the local watering holes. “What is this?!” you may have asked yourself. “How is it different from the other eleventy other blog things that have sprung up in the last two minutes?”

Well, I’ll explain it–because I love it. Actually, Emily Ramsey said it best at About Nashville. It’s sort of a Tennessee Blog Idol, without the Simon Cowell factor. It’s the brain child of local blogger and programmer, Casey Fleser.

Essentially it allows any registered user the chance to vote for the blog entries they’ve found compelling in some way. As of now, it’s gotten a lot easier to vote, too, since Casey’s added a browser bookmark not unlike the toolbar at Stumble Upon. Simply register to use the site, drag the link into your browser toolbar and then you can automatically submit stories to Tn. Blog Watch. How cool is that? Very.

Thanks for mentioning TBW Kat. I wanted to take a moment to mention a few other items that might not be obvious right off the bat and one trinket that I added last night.

- The bookmarklet thingy that Kat mentions isn’t terribly obivous. Once you’ve registered, go to your Profile page ( http://tnblogwatch.com/user ) and read the section that’s titled “Easy submission of new links”.
- From your profile page you can also add other users as friends and you can send messages to anyone you’ve added as a friend.
- While skimming TBW (or elsewhere) you may find posts that you don’t have time to read at the moment but would like to come back to later. The Save button makes a copy of the post in your profile under the Saved tab. You can come back later and read at your convenience.
- (the trinket) New Top Blogs section: ( http://www.tnblogwatch.com/topblogs ) Using the blog roll here at MCB along with Technorati’s API’s I made a combination blog roll and Technorati rank thingy. TBW and MCB share this information, so if there are any missing / incorrect links, please let us know! Oh, and it should be noted that not all of the sites listed here are monitored by the blogwatcher at TBW. Yet. Working on that.
