Never start blogging under the impression that you are going to become famous
She has more. Simple and to the point, I might add. And the comments are also quite illuminating. Good advice for anyone, in my opinion.
I have said before I think most people blog because they have an agenda. It may be as simple as disciplining themselves to write everyday. Maybe it’s conveying their emotions on their computer screens. Maybe it’s for feedback on day to day activities. For some, it’s politics. There are others who do seek a level of infamy.
And some folks want to make money.
And for some, we blog because we want to, because it brings us joy.
Why do you blog? Do you want to be famous? Do you think blogging will lead you down a path of financial self-sufficiency? I think I can only count on one hand the people I know that blog full-time.
Now, here comes my opinion. Mainstream media has gotten into the boat. A-List bloggers are making money. It’s taken on a new realm. There are only so many things a person can read in a day. How does this effect us little guys?
What say you?
Forget fame…I’d rather be independently wealthy. Or at least comfortably affluent.
I blog because I love to hear the sound of my own voice…
wait a minute…
well, you know what I mean.
I started blogging as a way to keep a journal of my spiritual life. It has become a center of communication with friends and family. Blogging has made me a better writer. And it has become my favorite hobby.
We don’t blog because Id, Ego, & Superego can’t agree on what to call our blog… so we just lurk.
Famous? I don’t even use my real name. I’d say that I originally had something of a political agenda, but that faded over time. I just enjoy finally being able to keep a journal. Plus - now I’m addicted.
I’d rather be famous than rich, personally. But both works, too.
Money, fame, ego, mental sickness.
Glen, same here.
Heh.
At this point, I blog out of habit.
Sad, but true.
Vol Abroad,
Ditto here…Politics, and a place to keep my thoughts on my spiritual life, were the reasons I started to blog.
Now, it’s become a habit - but a fun one! I also just needed a place to vent and to express myself.
I blog to waste time between masturbating…though sometimes blogging is like masturbating.
