FX has the best original shows on cable, hands down. The Shield, Rescue Me and now the new summer show, Damages, starring Glenn Close (who rocked The Shield back in season four).
I know two bloggers in the area who agree with me–AG and John H. In fact, John had this to say about Damages:
A newer offering by FX ‘Damages‘ starring Glenn Close, Ted Danson and a bunch of ‘those guys*’ is a fun show about dirty-double-crossing’ lawyers (i don’t always think that is a redundancy) and at least one good lawyer and a lot of shady goings-on. Told partly in flashback, with the protagonist bloodied and arrested, the show really really makes me want to find out how all this unfurls. Good summer escapist fun.
If you’re just jumping in, it’s a good time. We’re on the third episode and it should be easy to catch-up on what’s going on. This week’s was good but not quite as blistering as the first two. But it’s still a lot better than most of the reality fare that’s on the networks during the summer months…
And the best thing–the show is serialized but unlike its big brother FOX, FX lets shows run their full season. So, at least, we have a promise that we’ll see how the on-going, unfolding storyline plays out.
I haven’t seen “Damages.” We tried to get into “Dirt” on FX, it was just a tad too cynical, even for me. We absolutely love “Mad Men” on AMC, though.
There’s so little worth watching on network TV anymore, I don’t know how people without cable survive.
and let’s not forget nip/tuck which is starting back up this October ::: drools :::
i *heart* damages. easily the best show on fx. sorry, denis.
