Baseball is a lot different than most other sports in that there isn’t really any subjectivity to the rules. Sure, umpires have to make judgements, but the rules are clearly defined. You never hear commentators say, “wow, they’re calling it really tight tonight” the way they do in football or basketball.

I got two words for ya: strike zone. Totally susceptible to interpretation.

Are you kidding?! How many times have i heard one umps strike zone compared to another. “he has a loose strike zone” or “a conservative” calling ump.

And to add… the subjectivity of the strike zone has the ability to decide a game just as much, if not moreso than other sports. Sometimes, the difference between a 10-8 score and a 2-1 score is the size of the strike zone.
