Gavin is disappointed about the fact that a seminary is offering an MRS degree to its female students only.

now the funny part, for this with regards to my family.. i am the one that has the degree from the human environmental sciences college of my uni. in the past it was known as home ec, the building still has that etched on the front. my wife makes more than me, which will probably get exponentially more than me as the years go (the church doesn’t usually do regular pay increases). so as i see it, i am the future mom.. sorta..

why can’t i go and get my mrs. degree? or does the bible require a female parent at home?

Now, you may remember this university and its homemaker degree programs from such previous blog entries as Woman’s Work So Easy Any Idiot Can Do It and Many Parts Are Okay As Long As They’re Left Arms and Let Me Back Up A Second and Why Home Ec

Ack! This again?

I just don’t see why there is anything wrong in offering a formal course of study for women who will one day be pastor’s wives. The courses are offered at a seminary, not a state-sponsored institution.

There’s a lot of value in studying nutrition, interior design, and hospitality, especially if you’ll be expected to practice these on a public and professional level.

If anything, the ladies at Home Ec 101 have shown us there’s a lot to learn about homemaking.

I agree. I wish I had taken more classes especially in cooking/nutrition. I have had to learn all this on the fly and I’m still a terrible cook. I wonder if I had learned to cook when I was younger if it wouldn’t be such a chore to this day.
