The other night, instead of watching a re-run of “Desperate Housewives” or whatever was on ABC, I watched a re-run of “The Family Guy.” I used to love that show, but like all shows (except The Simpsons), it’s suffered from fatigue. And Seth MacFarlane has just got to run out of pop culture references from the 70s and 80s at some point, right? In this episode, Peter was watching “Maude” and waiting and waiting for the theme song to end “…and then there’s Maude!” I haven’t thought about “Maude” in a long time but that song’s been stuck in my head all week.
The creator of “Maude,” Norman Lear made a stop by Newscoma to comment on a post she made last week about Loraine Barr. No, really. The real Norman Lear. Not only is he still alive and reading the intertubes, but he was kind enough to go through Newscoma to leave a message for Ms. Barr. Go see what he had to say to this woman who bravely wrote about her longtime companion in an essay in Newsweek.
