From the Brainstem:

I’m taking an indefinite break from blogging and politics. I’ve come to realize that there are more important things in my life that I need to work on, and I simply can’t do that while consuming myself in other stuff. I’ve criticized other people on this blog in the past for not knowing when to stop worrying about politics and start working on their own personal issues, and I know that I need to follow my own advice.

I totally get it, but it’s a sad day for blogging here in the Music City. Sean, unlike many of us, put his brain where his mouth is..Come back when you’re ready, Sean.

I’ve rarely seen such an astute, informed blogger on any level or any platform.
–John Hutcheson as quoted at VV

I second this sentiment about Sean…but it shows an incredible maturity on his part to know when to re-prioritize.

Best of luck, Sean.

Can I have his groupies?

Whatever Sean decides to focus on, he will be good at it. Smarts and a good work ethic is a killer combination.

BTW, Hutch, you continue to slay me with your post titles. The cheezier the better, IMO.

Does this mean the progressive level has dropped a bit at VV?

Take care, Sean. There’s always hope in San Francisco…
;D

Ahhhh…. this depresses me. If not for Sean and Roger I’d probably never read anything political, except Carter occasionally and what the rest of y’all make me read politics-wise on your personal blogs. (tongue in cheek and laughing). But sigh.

Of course I only wish you the best, Sean, and hope we’ll see you back soon. You are totally the coolest (well, you and Roger) ;)

And what exactly has Sean Braisted ever wrote that was worth fuckall?

I realize he’s been an indefatigable flack for the local commies but facts is facts. Whether he’s arguing in favor of rolling back sunshine laws to help his Donk buddies or playing Rob Briley’s AA sponsor.

What of poor Kleinheider? His Svengali is no more.

Brian, when I die, will you write my eulogy :-)

Thanks guys for the kind words, I appreciate it. I’m sure I’ll be back at it someday, if not for anything else but to spite the folks at Six Meat Buffet.

Sean,
Kudos for being able to pull back. Politics are definitely important because policy affects people, but for me it is always a pleasant parting of the clouds to realize (again) that there are some things more important than politics.

Brian McMurphy on 30 October, 2007 at 10:30 pm #

For you, Brainy? I’ll get right on it.

Sean,

Best of luck to ya. I admire your ability to re-priortize and re-structure. It’s always easier to say than to do, and to see you doing it is, well, inspiring.

Take your time, and come back when you’re ready. I’m sure your readers will be itchin’ to get back to readin’.

Sean,
Best of luck.
