I know theme parks frown on patrons bringing in food from outside the park, but this is ridiculous.
Cheryl Cruz said she was shaken by an encounter on Tuesday while she was breastfeeding her 10-month-old child, Kalli, on a bench at the Universal Studios park in Orlando.
“I’m just feeding her, minding my own business, there’s hardly anyone at the resort, [and] suddenly this lady comes over to me and says, ‘Listen I want you to cover up, this is a family affair,’ ” Cruz said Thursday.
“I was so shocked. I looked at her [and thought], ‘Oh my goodness, you’ve got to be kidding.’ ”
Then, Cruz said, a group of security officers surrounded her. She was eventually permitted to stay in the park.
What is more of a “family affair” than a mother breastfeeding her child?
I do not get it at all.
Aside from which, Florida law explicitly allows women to breastfeed in any public or private location where women are otherwise allowed to be “irrespective of whether the nipple of the mother’s breast is uncovered during or incidental to the breastfeeding,” and exempts it from the “unnatural and lascivious act” prohibition.
[…] Thanks to Kat for pointing out the story. […]
argghhh!!! I don’t get it either, this anti-breastfeeding attitude has been the biggest shock of parenting. I don’t get what’s driving it.
Interesting that the comments at the linked site were of the opinion that what the woman was doing was “gross.” I just consider that proof that some people need to be licensed before they should be able to breed.
I wonder what constitutes “natural and lascivious acts?”
It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant some people can be when it comes to breastfeeding. Oh noes! Someone might see a flash of nipple!
That’s a hell of a lot better than seeing Brittney Spears get into a car and flash her funky cooch at us, which seems to be on the celebrity gossip blogs nearly every day.
Drat! I missed Brittney again? I so cannot keep up. ![]()
If it were Catalina Cruz, instead of Cheryl Cruz, then we would have something lascivious.
