For no reason at all ::cough:: I found this article very interesting.

Menstrual cramps are caused by the contractions of your uterus as blood leaves it when no egg has been fertilized and implanted. The lining of the uterus also releases hormones called prostaglandins. These hormones make the contractions stronger and can cause the other symptoms of bowel disturbance plus headaches.

As soon as you notice you have the cramps, begin taking a pain reliever such as Aleve or Advil. Both help with inflammation as well as normal pain. Tylenol won’t give you the same relief. Heating pads, warm baths, and some herbs can help relieve the cramping.

I was very fortunate that my Dr. explained cramps to me in exactly this same way when I was very young. Some of my friends’ Drs told them it was just “a woman’s curse” or your punishment for being “born in sin and not loving god.” Seriously, from medical professionals.

I explained to them what my Dr. explained to me and one of their mothers called my mother about me.

I only take Advil for 4 days a month and then I take it on a regular 8 hour schedule. It helps the muscle soreness a lot.

Inspiration comes in many forms :-) Some forms are better than others. Thanks for the link!

I think it is absurd that female monthly cycles are stygmatized.

If God didn’t want women to suffer pain, wouldn’t have made babies heads so big.

And yet, I can’t see how “natural selection” would have created the human birthing process either.

Having experiences the gestation and births of my two children - all I can say to you women is, “I feel for ya.”
