After discussing a few options for accommodating the, er, lively discussions that tend to accompany political or religious topics while still providing a welcoming environment for those who prefer to avoid flamewars, I’ve set up a second feed for the site. In the upper right, on the 1st sidebar, you’ll notice that where there used to be a “Subscribe with RSS” link, there are now two links that say:
If you click the second link, you should be presented with an option to subscribe to the “Rainbows & Unicorns” version of Music City Bloggers.
We’ll give this a try and see if it’s a workable approach for everyone. If you have difficulty with either feed, please comment here and I’ll do my best to resolve it.
I love me some nerdy wimmins!
Indeed, I doff my cap to you.
.
Kate rocks.
Aw, shucks. It’s true what they say about you: you’re not too bad, for an asshat.

Kate, you are the BEST, seriously.
Ha! That last comment was directed at JP, not Ginger. Ginger is rarely an asshat.

So, this is what adults compromising, working together looks like. Must… read… Chomsky! Must… listen… to Rachael…. Maddow!

.
Kate is a goddess.
I need to show her the picture that shows that I do indeed have a scar from the chick that stepped on my foot and punctured it where I ran into Karsten falling damn down and he thought I was going to stalk both of them).
(Private joke, but still I will post the injured foot where Karsten saved me from the evil girl in the four inchers who injured me for life.)
With that said, YAY KATE ‘O
Ginger is rarely an asshat.
Of the many hats I wear, the ass hat is one I try not to wear too much…but when I do, I wear it well, baby. ![]()
Ginger,
Hee.
well done kateo.
Just change it to “no politics” so the worship bloggers can get their fix. I bet even that asshat Ror wouldn’t crash their party. Where is that bastard anyway?
Not sure I get what you’re (jokingly?) suggesting, GoCP. Modifying the alternate feed so that it leaves in religion but still omits politics? I got the impression that the folks who wanted to avoid political topics also wanted to avoid religious topics for similar reasons — to enjoy a tavern-esque civility.
Is that different from your understanding?
That’s exactly what I’m suggesting, and I am not joking.
A lot of people post about worship related topics and activities and I would be surprised if there were not people that would enjoy getting those feeds without the political stuff.
I bow low to you, good lady.
Genius.
My apologies in advance:
ewwwwwwwww!
*snicker*
Yuck, Slarti!!
Btw, how is everyone? I think I have been missing out on some good posts. ![]()
I have to agree with Glen Dean. This is absurd. It’s like people are being forced to read and discuss politics and religion if they select the wrong feed? Pfffff!
Flame War Etiquette:
pam - the non-political feed is called mcb-rainbowsunicorns.
Kind of hard to miss.
While you guys are burning new feeds, how about a “comments” feed. It’s much easier to keep up with comment activity if I can do it through my reader.
I appreciate the option to receive comments through email, but a feed is much more convenient.

I have a PH.D dammit.
It was allegory.
You’re evil.
Guns are only for killing.
Your killing the planet.
What do you expect from a Winger?
You need to walk in their shoes.
That’s libelous.
A.) You can’t read.
B.) You can’t think
C.) You’re stupid
I would like to second sadcox’s suggestion. A comments feed would be nice.
Thirded.
Three subscribers built in! I wish I could get that many subscribers to my comments! ![]()
A comment feed already exists. Just not a clear way to access it from the main site.
Thanks dolphin!
I also checked and found that feeds for comments on individual posts (as I’d suggested in the other thread) also already exist (for instance, this individual post’s feed can be found here) just need to have it hardcoded into the template.
