Apparently, at home here in Nashville. Spotted by some geeks at Noshville this morning (one of whom was lucky enough to get a photo). And at the Belcourt this past weekend for a private show.
I’ve only seen Ben out and about once in the more than three years I’ve lived here. Of course, I would have seen him this morning if I hadn’t overslept and missed the Geek Breakfast. And, um, yeah, I’m still in my pajamas (I’m such a stereotype). D’oh! But, hey, I did get to meet Bill Maher….
Mr. Folds and his family also frequent a caffiene spot here in town. I go there more often now that I know that and get giddy everytime I see him. He rocks!!!
He used to frequent the “caffeine spot” where I used to work, too. The first time I saw him come through, I nearly lost it. I later got to have a real conversation with him, and I found him to be one of the cutest, sweetest, geekiest (in a charming way) guys I’d ever met. He’s the real deal.
His wife, Frally, is Australian. Since my husband is Australian as well and is affiliated with a local group of ex-pats, she called our house one day to find out more about the organization. I answered the phone and saw “Benjamin Folds” on the caller id and thought how cute it was that I was getting a wrong number from someone with the same name as a famous musician. After I learned that it wasn’t a wrong number and it really was a call from Ben Folds’ house I kept that number on our caller id for almost a year because I thought it was so cool.
So basically I am a bigger geek than all of y’all combined.

Ha–thanks Ginger! For those who don’t know (cough Malia cough), I took it from a line of “Where’s Summer B?”–an old Ben Folds Five song that’s one of my favorites.
