Instead of relieving Walgreens and Target of their sale-priced candy remainders, take a few hints from these bloggers about how to have a great weekend.
Tune In Music City talks about Paul Thorn performing at the Belcourt Sunday night. Side note: Back in March 2003, when I still lived in Memphis, my mom came to Nashville to see Paul Thorn at 3rd & Lindsley with some of her friends. She’d tried to get me to go, but hanging out with rowdy early-50-somethings was just not high on my priority list. Upon her return, she regaled me with stories of hanging out with these “cute English guys” at Paul’s show. “I talked to this really nice bald guy. You’d really like him. He said he was in a band. Cold-something?” Coldplay had played the Ryman the night before and the guys were hanging around soaking up some of the local music scene. When I told my mom she’d been hanging out with Gwyneth Paltrow’s boyfriend, she hardly flinched. “Oh, too bad he’s not single.” Gah. She got me back for that one time I shared a park-n-fly limo with Vince Gill (ooh, she was jealous). But I digress…that’s a pretty good endorsement (both my mom and Chris Martin), so check out the show.
TIMC also gives us a handy list of the tickets going on sale this weekend (aside from Bonnaroo, that is).
Speaking of Bonnaroo, Nashville Blotter updates us on the list of performers at Bonnaroo…go see who he’s talking about. It’s a big name and not one you’d expect to see. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 11am local time.
Nashville Cream gives us three reasons to go to The End Sunday night.
Webbspun Ideas has three great posts for weekend entertainment. First, a wine tasting over at Vinea that features Chilean wines (which are some of my favorites–try them out). Plus information on Blue Heron Cruises (if Saturday’s weather is as mild as predicted, this should be a great way to spend some time). They also give us a nice little list of various restaurants and cultural events to check out.
Finally, The Nashville Feed’s got their Weekend “It” List posted. Wouldn’t you know it, they’re recommending Paul Thorn’s show, too. They’re also recommending a show tonight down in Leiper’s Fork that features quite a list of talent. Kate’s going to be at that show and has a nifty little tip for you on how to save 15% on the purchase price of tickets. Check it out.
What do you recommend for this weekend?
The Goat or, Who is Sylvia? tonight, Alias on Saturday, and sometime this weekend I want to squeeze in Spamalot.
This is really cool. I recommend everyone come over to west Tennessee but that’s just me. ![]()
There is Spamalot (which is very good) and there’s also the Antiques and garden show at the Convention Center.
The spillover from ‘Coma’s house can stay at my apt 45 mins away. But only if you don’t have a cat allergy.
