Ok.  I know.  I’ve been remiss in posting.  I just haven’t seen anything that really excited me enough to tell you about.

Until now.

making your own bacon flavored vodka

Now, I’ve experienced vodkas infused with all kinds of interesting herbs and spices (chilli’s, black pepper, ginger, lemongrass), vegetables (cucumber, spiced pumpkin) and fruits (mandarin orange, various berries, mango, pear) coffee, chocolate and vanilla.  And each variation brings a little something different to a cocktail and depending on the season or your mood there’s something for everyone.

But THIS post has me looking at vodka in a whole new wonderful and lustful way…

And lest you think that i am being exclusive, for all our Muslim and Jewish friends - here’s the ultimate solution - The Weenie Teenie.

You’re welcome.

With a cherry tomato and an olive, you can call it soup!

Hey guys, CeeElCee and I want to host blogga lunch at Phat Bites next week — anyone game?

Claudia on 5 March, 2008 at 9:50 am #

did someone say food?
i nominate jim voorhis as a yes…

Claudia on 5 March, 2008 at 9:51 am #

if you host it does that mean you’re paying? i owe ceelcee $1. tell him i’ll make good on it. as long as he pays for lunch.

democommie on 5 March, 2008 at 9:55 am #

fluffernutter:

I’d have to get it to go (and with free delivery!).

Claudia:

A young cellist I know told me she was looking forward to trying all of the wines that are available in China (she’s going there soon) but then she found out they spice them up by marinating lizards, snakes, etc., in them. She’s decided to skip ALL wines while in China.

Bacon flavrored vodka? I’d probably try it, but I like most of my spirits without any additives. I drink mostly blond rums from Haiti, Jamaica and Nicaraqua; armagnacs and single malts. When I drink vodka I like Chopin or Belvedere. I like them all with an ice cube or neat.

I do want to make some limoncello for a friend of mine. I have a recipe somewhere. I’ll find it when the dust settles.

fluffernutter on 5 March, 2008 at 10:02 am #

I should have added that by “host” I mean “get there early enough to save at least one of the tables that hold 6.”

Claudia on 5 March, 2008 at 10:07 am #

fluff - what kinda host is that??? but i am lured by your charming personality and witty reparte, so i’m in.

demo - you will be missed. and i am dying to make some great limincello. i was talking about that this morning with my best friend… weird… and speaking of weird, china freaks me out. totally. in every way.

Claudia on 5 March, 2008 at 10:08 am #

i mean repartee - lest you think less of mee

Jim Voorhies on 5 March, 2008 at 10:49 am #

I am always up for Phat Bites. When I worked closer, I ate there every day at lunch. I am so chipotle hummus deprived.

Claudia on 5 March, 2008 at 10:50 am #

thursday work?

Jim Voorhies on 5 March, 2008 at 10:51 am #

noon or earlier?

Chris Wage on 5 March, 2008 at 10:58 am #

I’m intrigued. Disturbed, but intrigued.

GingerSnaps on 5 March, 2008 at 11:19 am #

Thursday, March 13th?

saraclark on 5 March, 2008 at 11:20 am #

But do dogs know it’s not bacon? and do alcoholics really care? Could this make a bloody mary taste like a BLT? the possibilities are endless.

Chris Wage on 5 March, 2008 at 11:21 am #

All I need is fried-egg flavored tonic water and I have the perfect breakfast

Claudia on 5 March, 2008 at 11:22 am #

march 13 works for me
fluff? ceelcee?
noon?

sara - my thoughts exactly…

Chris Wage on 5 March, 2008 at 11:33 am #

Oooh, blogger lunch. I wanna go.

fluffernutter on 5 March, 2008 at 11:52 am #

Well, Chris could only do it Monday or Tuesday. I’m good with Thursday, but my co-host ain’t. Anyone free Mon or Tuesd?

Jim Voorhies on 5 March, 2008 at 12:45 pm #

Ug. Mon bad.

Chris Wage on 5 March, 2008 at 2:22 pm #

Either works for me..

Claudia on 5 March, 2008 at 4:06 pm #

so monday is bad and thursday is bad.
but noon is good.
so now y’all figure out a day. and i will show up. if jim goes. and chris. and ceelcee and nicki. and ginger.

Jim Voorhies on 6 March, 2008 at 8:57 am #

ok, Monday or Tuesday are washes for me. I’ll either have to leave early or be a few minutes late getting there. Since they have a line for ordering I’d rather ba a litle late than risk not being able to sit for a while. Tuesday.

fluffernutter on 6 March, 2008 at 8:59 am #

Tuesday it is. Noon. Phat Bites on Allen Road just off Donelson Pike in a site that was, and still looks like, a convenience store. If there’s not a space in front, there are a few behind, and a nearly abandoned car wash next door with extra spaces. El Zorro is coming too, and haven’t heard from Lesleyeats.

Claudia on 6 March, 2008 at 10:31 am #

tuesday at noon
ok
jim can we order for you in advance?
