I wanted to let you know that I took Nashville is Talking off of the MCB aggregator this morning because with their shiny new format, their feed had become basically an aggregator into our aggregator.
We love our friends over at NiT, so it’s nothing personal whatsoever…
Go take a gander at their new format!
Then, y’all be sure and come back here now, ya hear?
Update: Christian has fixed the feed to where it now only features his “Noteworthy” posts, so I have added NiT back to the aggregator.
I’ve done the same thing on my rss feed.
Yeah, I had to delete them, too. I feel like I already have a feedreader filled with the blogs I already want to read, so I don’t need another one clogging up my day with a bunch of random crap–and no “Hey, read this, it’s interesting!”
I had to remove them too. I couldn’t take 200+ posts from one place on a daily basis. Long live MCB!
yikes, that new layout burned my retinas completely through!
Yesterday when I opened my reader I thought someone named nitwit1 with no discernible agenda had hijacked NIT and was spamming everyone. I think the cryptic nature of most of the blog post titles were what confused me. We all try to be so clever! Then I saw one of my own posts in the feed. Mystery solved!
I, too, removed them. I stayed as long as I could.
I’m debating on whether to remove the feed from my blog entirely. It’s not really hurting anything being there, but between the fact that it’s now solely an aggregator really, plus the fact that WP.com sidebars don’t refresh constantly and thus with the number of new posts that will be coming into NIT it just kinda makes it… ugh. I don’t know.
I will not be reading it in my feed reader but then I rarely read NIT thru the feed reader anyway.
What I will add is I dislike the new format visually. It’s too busy and ugly and just would turn me off right away if I was new and didn’t know anything about it. For me now, personally, it doesn’t matter ‘cos now that it does the same thing my feed reader does I likely will not go to NIT anyway - but if I was a new person to Nashville or something, it would be a turnoff just in the way the presentation is visually and probably as soon as I found MCB I’d never go back.
Sorry, Christian, love ya but it’s just too busy and disorganized looking and would not be a sticky website for me from an “average site browser point of view”. It looks like the ones I hit for about 10 seconds and go “Ugh” and then move on and never come back to. ![]()
My apoligies for getting to this and other posts so late. I’ve been in back to back meetings for a couple of days.
We’re looking at pushing my posts to NIT through the feed everyone uses, but for now, this is the correct NIT RSS feed: http://www.nashvilleistalking.com/noteworthy/feed.
M’Kay, the old feed works again ![]()
