From Liberadio: It seems Mary Mancini and Freddie O’Connell are going to “partner” with Steve Gill to do a political talk radio show called Right Hook, Left Jab. According to the press release, Mary Mancini is

“…looking forward to going mano-a-womano with Steve, and to have Freddie there with his special commentary and smelling salts.”

“We see that the country is moving away from hyper-partisanship and towards reason and reconciliation and, frankly, it’s painful,” added O’Connell, “We’re going to keep intolerance alive if it kills us.”

Said Gill, “Should be fun. I hear O’Connell’s a bleeder.”

The show will be on WRVU 91.1 FM on Saturdays from 9 till 11. (Do they realize that conflicts with Car Talk?)

Have you SEEN Mary Mancini — do you think Steve Gill would last 1 minute in a studio with her? My friend, I believe today is April 1.

Never seen her but, yeah, I figured that was the case.

[…] you able to fool anyone? Leave a link or comment. Rex lists his favorites. And I have to admit, this was a valiant effort. I only wish this were a joke. But I can only count on one hand how many people would agree. […]

More importantly that would kick my two favorite 91.1 shows off the area - the Persian Music show and Sounds of the Bayou (Cajun music). 9-11am on Saturdays is my break from ‘normal’ radio.

Glad this is an April Fools. Well executed, that has caught more than one person already

Ken Whitehouse, not exactly Mr Gullible, nearly wrote a piece for the NashvillePost.com

I think the mano a womano and smelling salts were meant to be indicators, but it was well done.

As a point of future reference, I’ve always figured that no press release issued on 4/1 was reliable, until separately verified somehow or other. But once Ginger posted it too….
