I’m just going to step back from all the stories of what’s wrong with (insert issue here) and remind everyone of some good news.
Summer movie season starts today.
Special showings of Iron Man begin tonight and the movie kicks it up into high gear this weekend with a whole bunch of movies that look like a whole lot of fun.
So just for a few minutes, mute the inner movie-snob, grab some popcorn and just enjoy a few hours of escapist fun. Surely with the plethora of films coming out this summer, there has to be something you’re looking forward to….
There’s an awesome review for Iron Man here-

After Iron Man, Indy Jones will be the must see for me. I can’t believe it’s been freaking NINETEEN YEARS since the last one.
For me, it’s The Dark Knight. There are other movies that are coming out sometime this summer that look good/I’ll more than likely end up seeing, but that’s the one that I’m actually excited for.
Christian Bale + Batman mythology + other cool British actors & Morgan Freeman + Heath Ledger’s creepy Joker + Maggie Gyllenhaal taking over Katie Holmes’ roles and hopefully making it less annoying = really promising summer blockbuster.
Hey, have y’all seen Expelled? Just kidding, just kidding.
Ah, Ned, you’re such a…joker. (I had to make a Bat-pun somehow. Ugh, “Bat-pun,” did I really just type that?) Seriously, though— I know when I think of summer popcorn flicks, my mind immediately goes to Ben Stein and the evolution vs. intelligent design debate. I figured that just kind of went without saying.
Also, my comment should’ve said “Katie Holmes’ role,” which I guess is obvious enough, but I feel like I should correct it.
Okay, though I was definitely joking, I have to say that Stein is still rather amusing at parts of the movie (I know, bridgett and others think he’s hilarious, though not “amusing,” in the entire movie). That is one of the charming things about the movie, frankly. Though some political commentators (even Michael Moore, ironically) take themselves too seriously, Stein’s presentation in the movie is rather self-deprecating and enjoyable. But I am not intending to hijack this thread about feel-good entertainment.
I for one will be interested to see the Indy movie . . .
