The Rich half of country duo Big & Rich is building a home called Villa Rich on top of a hill in Nashville. It could easily be called Villa Big if the photo at That’s Messed Up is accurate. It reminds me a little of a water slide.
But even better is this link brought to us by our beloved CeeElCee. He directs us to the architecture company’s design of the home and it’s well worth a peek.
it may not be the most beautiful looking edifice, but he can build on his property how he see’s fit. (at least that how I think it should be.)
To each his own. It is ugly. And I, a lov-ah of “modern architecture,” will definitely agree… not that gorgeous. For the money he probably spent on the design… he could’ve gotten muuuch beetter.
I actually think it’s beautiful, but I can see how it’s out of place with the rest of the neighborhood. It would look gorgeous out in the desert.
One of the things I liked about Chicago was the diversity of architectural styles in one neighborhood. It keeps neighborhoods from looking like (sorry, y’all) Brentwood subdivisions, everything all the same. Nashville’s older neighborhoods have some beautiful, diversely styled homes. And when something new comes in, I think it’s perfectly fine to put a modern piece in there, as long as its size and setback doesn’t completely put it out of context with what else is there.
LOL. I just clicked through the links. The guy who designed it is actually the same architect who designed the addition on my house a few years ago. Figures!
His property, and it’s all within codes. Just because the codes don’t specify how tall a 3-story house can be is no reason to shut it off. If one of the neighbors had a solar system and this blocked the sun out for them, that would be one thing, but that’s not the case either. I always wanted a house on Love Circle, myself. He’s going to have a great view of the city.
Naming one’s house after oneself is, imo, a bit tacky. It’s not my taste, but then again, it’s not my money either. I expect that the garage doors will set him back more than my purchase price and the costs of renovation for my own little slice of hell.
It is always a good idea to not step on too many of your abutters’ toes unless you’re sure you will never need a variance.
Every time I see that picture, it says Mr. Coffee to me.
Remember you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. It may look funky outside but it may be a palace on the inside. I for one am curious to know how it is laid out inside.
There are many more beautiful places to have circles for love.

Those radio & TV towers always made me nervous. Bet they cause brain cancer.
