Mondays and Wednesdays are crazy for me.
But, this is a good, very good I might add, scene from Nashville.

Chris Wage has an amazing post up.
Ok, I don’t know if it’s spotted or not, but I liked the alliteration…

Yes, it’s that time of year again. Our high school seniors are finishing up their course work, gearing up for graduation and itching to get their hands on some newfound college freedom. But before your budding young entrepreneur or up & coming lawyer or undiscovered Einstein leaves your nest, how about some pictures to commemorate the event?
Steven Bush is a local photographer (with a blog, natch) who has a different twist on traditional portraiture. Don’t settle for the boring cap & gown photo that the your Senior had taken for the yearbook! Capture their personal flair with a Steven Bush original. If anything, it’ll make Grandma cry when she gets her framed 8×10 copy! Go here to see his original work.
Ok, it’s Ashley Judd at the Nashville Speedway, in a pic snapped by ‘The Fabulous Daredevil‘. She’s talking, quite comfortably, with somebody at the track. I’m sure what she has to say is interesting, but we want to know something else…Get your eyes off Ashley, yes YOU, and tell us what the woman in the white sunglasses is thinking.
Best caption wins link love, glory, honor, acclamation, the thrill of victory, the ardor of the public, and not a whole lot else..but isn’t all that enough?
Put your best caption in the comment or send it to ‘tips@musiccitybloggers.com‘ if you don’t want anybody stealing your brilliant idea.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 14, 2008
WHO: Any child age 10-14 can enter with a parent’s or guardian’s written permission.
WHAT: Nashville Public Television (NPT) and the PBS show NATURE want children in Middle Tennessee to turn their eyes toward the wonders of nature and send in their best Tennessee nature photograph. Examples include photos of wild animals; birds at feeders; butterflies in backyards; or close-up shots of an interesting bug or a unique flower. Dogs and cats are cute, but children are encouraged to focus their lenses on less-domestic animals (unless, of course, it’s a butterfly sitting on the tip of a dog’s nose). Great local places to capture nature include the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere, The Warner Park Nature Center or Radnor Lake.
The Top 15 winning photographers will be invited to a private photo safari event
at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere.
WHEN: Entries for the NPT’s “Kids Love NATURE” Photo Contest are being accepted now through March 31, 2008.
HOW: Photos must be in .jpg format, placed on a CD labeled with child’s first name and last initial, phone # and e-mail address (e.g. John S. 615-555-1212, jsmith@photo.com) and mailed, along with a signed entry form to:
Nashville Public Television
161 Rains Avenue
Nashville, TN 37203
Attention: Education Department
Complete rules, and the entry form, are available http://www.wnpt.net.
I bet you have a picture stored somewhere in your digital recesses that would be just about perfect for a fabulous Friday photo caption contest. Hold that thought…
Each Friday we will be displaying a photo of some sort, and we will be asking you, the readers, to supply a snappy caption to go with said photo. The winner will be lauded, honored, celebrated, linked and at this point will receive pretty much nothing else. But, we know you like attention (unless you’re a Milford man), and would love some link love.
If you have any photos ripe for the captioning, send em’ to tips@musiccityblogger.com
Be watching on Friday for your big chance to receive acclaim and glory.
Just brilliant…by Chris Wage
I want y’all to meet my pal MaryE. MaryE is a photographer, writer, and perhaps one of the most well-rounded, diverse and interesting people you could ever bump into. I can almost hear the intro to Gentle On My Mind when MaryE comes into my head.
MaryE is kinda like me in that she has been present at some memorable moments in music with a nice, front row seat cause she was “with the band.” She’s always got her eyes and ears open and doesn’t miss much.
Sometimes MaryE hangs out in Nashville, other times it’s the Catskills, the summer months she goes from Bluegrass festival to Bluegrass festival, documenting the sights, sounds…the winter months, she hangs in Wales and goes on foxhunts (I know, isn’t that just fascinating? Not something I would do but it’s interesting)
Chris, the wife of Channel 5 News Director Mike Cutler has a very interesting photo blog, part of a network of daily city photoblogs. The picture in this post was meant to capture what people think of when they think of Nashville. Other city photo blogs she links in her post do the same, including this one from Memphis (you can probably guess the subject of that photo).
Check out Chris’s blog and spend a little time there. She makes her way around the area and has some great shots of the countryside in Leipers Fork as well as cityscapes. It’s also an interesting glimpse into her world.

Have y’all been keeping up with Kathy T.’s Old Photo blogging project? She’s been posting old pictures of her family, grandparents, parents and lots of stuff from when she was kid. I’ve found it particularly interesting because I love how she tells stories about what’s going on in the photo and stories about who’s in the photo, like today:
Okay, see my cousin Mark? He was always so fun to be around. He was a city boy transplanted to the country when his Mom (my Mom’s sister) moved the family from New Jersey to rural Indiana. But he embraced that country life and one day took his gun to go hunting on Grandpa’s farm*. He was so proud when he came back to the house to show that he nabbed a duck**!
Go over and see the exciting conclusion to Mark’s duck hunting excursion!
I know Kathy introduced herself today as the Real Estate and Neighborhoods Editor but I wanted to point out to you just how talented and creative she is. (She’s inspired me to go digging for old photos and to reminisce about time gone by.)
What is the best online source for picture sharing?
What do you guys do? I’ll do whatever is necessary to keep the nasties away, even if it means keeping it private, but a lot of the grandparents and whatnot either don’t know how to set up accounts on pages like Flickr or watch too much Dateline and think that any site asking for their name or password is going to hack into their bank accounts. Any suggestions?
Head to her place to answer her questions. She has a good point. I put most of my kiddies onto private at Flickr but it tends to freak people who don’t understand it all out.

We here at MCB really try to not link to our personal blogs that often because we want this to be about the larger community, not just those of us on the editorial board.
But I could not let this post at Rachel’s go by without comment.
